For more than 33 years, Laura Fygi has been an international icon of jazz. With 17 albums released in over 33 countries, 4 Gold records and 1 Platinum, and over 3 million albums sold, her voice continues to enchant audiences worldwide. Singing in English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and even Chinese, she has built a truly global following, reaching more than 300 million views per month worldwide.
Laura has performed live in 33 countries, from Ronnie Scott’s in London to The Blue Note in Tokyo, and collaborated with musical legends such as Toots Thielemans, Michel Legrand, and Michael Franks. Her music has been featured in campaigns for Nokia, Omega, and Toyota, and she has partnered with more than 10 international brands. The LA Times once captured it perfectly: “Better than Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra and Sarah Vaughan.”
Beyond her extraordinary career, Laura has become a dear friend. I was proud to play a role in suggesting to His Majesty King Willem-Alexander that Laura’s lifelong contribution deserved royal recognition. On 27 November 2022, it was announced that the King had appointed Laura Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau. She received this honor for her outstanding international achievements and for preserving cultural heritage through music and entertainment.
Laura’s story is not just about music — it is about resilience, grace, and the courage to remain true to herself. That is why she continues to inspire me, and why I am proud to have shared part of her journey.
